Negonion Fucking hell what do you even say about this? The story is so compelling and genuinely engaging, and the music is SO Bonitz. Some real, raw, legitimate quality in play here. Incredible stuff - as always.

thewanderingbard What an awesome song and incredible journey. Usually more progressive stuff puts me to sleep, but this one kept me wide awake!

Declan Murphy This is an absolutely thrilling experience. The entire piece flows seamlessly between several different styles of music while also maintaining recurring themes throughout. The vocals and monologues show a huge range of ability and beauty while presenting an enthralling story. This is definitely worth experiencing for yourself.

Dust was my heart I’m the betrayed -Hating and cheating ‘til nothing remains But I see to yonder O’ I see in you! You’ve got it all backwards, And I’ll show you proof But I’ll have to be your soul… -Damned beyond belief So, here we go Already underway to let me in I’ll show you what it feels like -Pain I want to be your soul You’re damned beyond belief This darkness you’ve been on about, I won’t let it test you Let me be your soul! I’ll teach you what to believe All your woes soon falling out of line… Then, nothing can best you Disorder and death—I’m better than that I’m gonna’ open your head and see what’s in it All your sorrow and debt—I’m better than that I’m gonna’ open your head and see what’s in it Let me in Dawn… It always starts exactly the same as the dusk Filth was my heart I’m the betrayed -Hating and cheating ‘til nothing remains But is there a difference? And is it in you? You’ve got it all backwards, And I’ll show you proof! When you’re falling apart, I’m nearer, But I was already there… No one’s coming No one heard you Disappointed? Call my bluff! ‘Cause it’s hurting, and you want me to stop That automatic condemnation Is the only thing that keeps you sane It’s so tragic! Does it make you feel stronger?
2.
I’d like to be your soul Imagine what we’d see! All these things you fear have nothing on me… Treason’s just a penny for the poor To put ‘em up when they’re unsure ‘Cause when you’re failing in pairs, It makes you feel less alone At least you’re still a part of something I’ll tell you my story if you give me a day From the start, I had no heart Born a servant to serpents, I was a slave -Kept their rattles and polished their fangs Some would say I was brave… But I knew one day they would devour me I knew one day we’d all be consumed I’d be packed up and fed to their young Life was nothing but cruel to me And just like you, one day someone came to me And he said, “Let me be your soul I can set you free You’ve had no choice ‘til now Just give me a dream” I didn’t regret T’was better than dead They would’ve bit off my head I saw it coming! I’d be a pile of shit—I’m better than that I made the deal with the djinn I let him come in I let him in

Chemistry 02:11
You consider my offer, I’ll give you some more After days, I was spoiled and dead on the floor It’s important you see this was part of his plan -Make them think I was no longer fit for consumption We had chemistry He had set me free Through the sewer, I swam O’ I swam to the shoreline! This would be my new start Then, it all fell apart… It was not what it seemed
4.
You see, I had forgotten something very, very important Yes, in my own excitement, I began plotting out crusades For riches and glory and power What did I know of freedom? I was an ignorant peon Who was born into a life of servitude Obliging diamond-encrusted monsters That would swallow up my kind on a whim This was the only thing a man in my position could dream of And caught up the moment, I had suddenly realized I had been played! I slept for a whole day, And I wept, for I knew what was coming I’d not be the same anymore… My time had ended So, I begged for a whole night, And I cried as I held onto nothing I’d not be me anymore! He wanted his dream… And then the djinn took form -The shape of an eel Careened back with his mouth open wide And though I knew There was no talking down his malevolence I mustered the courage to ask him To spare me my tongue I’d have drained my blood! I’d have drained my blood! What’s the worth of your life if you’re not someone? But he showed compassion He didn’t take my tongue… -Stuffed my body full of wickedness I’m kicked out O’ I’ve forgotten what it means to be alive! And oh, it’s so tragic ‘Cause there’s no one home inside I’m nothingness incarnate I’m a throne without a king The masterpiece! The masterpiece! I saw it within me! I watched him become my soul! And I didn’t want to believe! And as my body was wrenched from out my clutch I could finally see! How the hole in the plot’s so clear! For the start and the stop look the same And it’s easy enough To pick and pick and pick and pick When you’re already there No one’s coming No one heard you Disappointed? Call my bluff! Cause it’s hurting, And you want me to stop That automatic affirmation, Do you understand how it made me this way? That’s my story Now, you’ll give me that day…
5.
You been’ cheated just like me So, come on out We’ve spent too much time on this Know I been’ searching There ain’t no other way… So, I been’ planning that whole ‘Gimmie’ a day thing Now I get to be your soul Ain’t no other way And I get to watch you fall And I get to feel your pain I never count my blessings enough I got’ too many It’d take too long, And I lost a couple on the way up I been’ through fire I sit that low O’ I been’ searching for your face! You danced a bad dance, And that’s okay Your heart’s been’ thumping in that cage... It knows I’m coming It beats for me Don’t even try to butter me up -Won’t get you ‘nowhere You’re good as gone, And the peace of mind is worth it enough I’m finally someone I can’t go wrong! O’ I been searching for your face! You danced a bad dance, And that’s okay I’m feeling stronger I’m feeling free No one can stop me No one can stop me now! And then I too took form -The shape of crow -Careened back with my beak open wide And though I knew There was no talking down my malevolence I mustered the mercy To tell him I’d be sparing his tongue
6.
And my last thoughts Before I inhabit this new space… It’s curious—the separation Between the body and the soul Do you see? A body doesn’t remember, But a soul never forgets! And it’s curious… Curious to know That somewhere out there, My body is gone and dead and buried and rot But here I am—remembering! And here you too will be You too will wander the stars searching -Searching for a suitable host -Searching for how and why a beautifully worthless being Came plunging down from the heavens Only to deceive you into giving up your only shell A trick! A happy little trick, it was And now there you go There you go! Look at you go! I remember! I remember that feeling well -That feeling of being lost O’ here we go! We’re finally underway I made it in Nobody’s gonna’ judge you -Fade I will be your soul

about

"Give Me A Day" is a thirty-minute-long epic that I split into six parts or "chapters," but it is meant to be listened to as a singular song :)

The lyrical concept revolves around a bodiless entity called "The Betrayed," who flies across the universe to find a suitable host, "The Betrayer," and tricks him into giving up his body.

All songs composed, written, recorded, and mixed by Justin Bonitz in just ten days time! I programmed the drums and drew the album artwork as well.
